A Learned Society for Human-Made Work

Show the hand
behind the work.

Membership is not granted by claim — it is earned by demonstration. We don't try to detect machines. We verify the human process behind your work, and certify it.

What is this?

A membership society for people who still make it themselves.

The Natural Intelligence Society exists to preserve and celebrate skill, thought, and artistry made through human exertion and human cognition — unassisted by generative AI. We are not anti-technology; we are pro-provenance. In an age when the origin of a work has gone invisible, we hold that the human source of a creation is itself worth protecting — and worth proving.

Why it matters

Three convictions hold it together.

i.

The struggle is the point

A skill is the residue of effort. Outsource the effort and the skill doesn't transfer — it evaporates. We protect the conditions that build human capability.

ii.

Provenance is meaning

Work made by a person carries a chain of choices, failures, and recovery an audience can feel. To know a human made a thing is information about what it is.

iii.

Plurality, not prohibition

Like organic certification, our boundary guarantees one trustworthy thing exists. It's a promise to our members — never a judgment imposed on anyone else.

Where you fit

Four domains of practice.

Traditional ArtsPainting, sculpture, craft, writing, composition.
Performing ArtsMusic, dance, theatre, spoken word.
Physical SportAchievement under observed conditions.
Intellectual PursuitResearch, mathematics, debate, the craft of code.
The Natural Standard

You can't detect AI. So we don't try.

We certify provenance, not absence — the visible chain of human work behind a piece, never a machine's guess about it. Every achievement carries an honest confidence level based on how it was verified.

Level I

Witnessed

Created or performed live, under the Society's own observation. Cannot be faked after the fact. The gold standard.

Level II

Documented

Backed by a full process trail — drafts, version history, time-lapse, a repo — plus a short live walkthrough of your own work.

Level III

Attested

Held to the signed Pledge alone. Recognised and welcomed — but kept distinct from the certified Archive.

How witnessing works

A live session. Fully remote. About fifteen minutes.

The highest tier is earned the simplest way — you show us, live. No travel, no studio; just a video call with two members of your own craft.

1Book a time

Two panellists from your domain join you over video — wherever in the world you are.

2A quick hello

A two-minute identity check, so the work is unmistakably tied to you. Nothing is stored.

3Show your craft

Perform it, make it, or walk us through it — live, and in your own hands.

4The live moment

We ask you to do one thing on the spot — extend it, vary it, fix it. Not a trap; just proof no machine stood in for you.

Rather not appear live? Completely your call — you'll simply be certified at the Documented tier instead. Sport is witnessed through officiated results or a neutral official present on the call.

What do you practice?

Each domain is verified by a different primary method. Pick the one that holds your strongest work.

If your craft is code: good news — it's among our most verifiable, because it can be defended live.

How can your work be verified?

This determines your certification tier. It is honest by design — the stronger the proof you can offer, the higher the tier you earn.

A referring member strengthens any petition, but is not required in the founding phase.

We'll send a confirmation here. This is how a panel reaches you — it is never shown publicly.

The Natural Standard Pledge

Every member signs. The Pledge is the floor beneath every tier.

“A human made this — and here is the proof.
  • I affirm that the work I present is the product of my own human exertion and cognition.
  • I have not used generative artificial intelligence to originate, complete, or substantively decide my work.
  • I will document my process honestly and submit to the Society's verification in good faith.
  • I understand that assistive tools that enable me to create are welcome — those that create for me are not.
